they all moved on...
but the daffodils stayed.
This photograph of an abandoned house place, captured on a cloudy winter's day,
became the favored image to grace the cover of Conway As it was . . . As it is,
a photographic history of Conway, Arkansas. The book is now available for purchase.
Bill Ward came to Conway in the mid-fifties to attend college. Working as a typesetter
to support his schooling, he soon found his life's profession when the Log Cabin Democrat,
the daily newspaper in that town, began to use photographs and he was already equipped to
be its photographer. As he completed assignments over the years, he also documented the
world around him as Conway grew from a town of 8,000 to a burgeoning city of more than
50,000. He traveled extensively in his search for simple life–from the Ozarks to the east
and west coasts, from Egypt to Taiwan, from Alaska to Mexico. His archive has now grown
to thousands of images.
